Administrative Structure
The L.E.P.L. under the name “Administration Committee of the Mosque of Athens” is structured as follows:
Directorate for Administrative and Financial Management, which includes the following Departments:
Department A - Religious Affairs
It is responsible for the organized and systematic service of Muslims living in Attica, as well as of visitors to the Mosque of Athens for the exercise of their religious duties.
Department B - Department for Administrative and Secretarial Support of the Management Board
A) It is responsible for promoting and ensuring the implementation of the decisions and directives of the Management Board, to the extent that it is concerned, addressing all administrative issues concerning the service and employment status of the staff of the L.E.P.L., the decent presentation, orderliness and cleanliness of the Mosque of Athens, and the security of its facilities.
B) The Department is structured into separate Offices as follows:
I. Office of Secretarial Support to the Management Board.
II. Human Resources Office.
III. Office of Protocol - Secretariat.
Department C - Financial Management and Procurement
A) It is responsible for promoting and ensuring the implementation of the decisions and directives of the Management Board, to the extent that it is concerned, addressing all financial and accounting issues of the L.E.P.L., the implementation of all types of supplies and works, projects and studies and the management of all types of revenue.
B) The Department is structured into the individual Offices as follows:
I. Accounting and Financial Management Office.
II. Budget Office.
III. Payroll Office.
IV. Office for Property, Procurement and Tenders.
Religious Committee of the Mosque of Athens
With par. 4 of Article 6 of Law 3512/2006 (A΄264) as added by par. 7 of Article 350 of Law 4957/2022 (A΄141) a “Religious Committee of the Mosque of Athens” is established within the L.E.P.L. Administration Committee of the Mosque of Athens, responsible for religious matters.
Its mission is to assist in an advisory capacity the Management Board of the Legal Entity for the fulfilment of its objectives, as defined in Article 2 of Law 3512/2006 (Α΄264).
It consists of five (5) members with their alternates, for a one-year term and it is established by decision of the Management Board. The President is appointed by the same decision. The members of the Religious Committee of the Mosque of Athens must be Muslims who legally reside in Attica and are members of the Muslim communities in Attica. They must have the required expertise in matters of Islamic religion and orthopraxy, so that they can respond to the religious needs and obligations of Muslims.
By the 5/30.1.2023 decision of the Management Board of the L.E.P.L. (131/τ. Υ.Ο.Δ.Δ./17.2.2023), the Religious Committee of the Mosque of Athens was established, consisting of the following members:

MOHAMED ALZAHABI is appointed President of the Religious Committee of the Mosque of Athens.
The Religious Committee of the Mosque of Athens is appointed for a one-year term from the date of publication of the decision of its establishment in the Official Government Gazette of the Hellenic Republic.
Management Board

The legal entity is governed by a nine-member Management Board, which is appointed by decision of the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs for a three-year term, which may be renewed.
Within the nine-member Management Board there are five members who are institutional representatives of the competent Ministries and the Municipality of Athens, appointed irrespective of their religion, while the other four members, representatives of the Muslims of Attica, must be Muslims.
Specifically, the Management Board consists of two representatives of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, one representative of the Ministry of Finance, two representatives of the Municipality of Athens and four representatives of the Muslims of Attica.
The Management Board deals exclusively with the administration and management of the Mosque of Athens. It is the Religious Committee of the Mosque of Athens who is responsible for religious matters.

Mission - History
With the provisions of Law 3512/2006 “Mosque of Athens and other provisions” (Official Government Gazette A' 264), the necessary regulatory framework for the establishment and operation of a Mosque in Attica was introduced for the first time in national legislation, in order to enable Muslims living in the Attica area (Greeks and non-Greeks) to exercise their religious duties, as dictated by their religion.
The “Administration Committee of the Mosque of Athens”, which was established under the above regulatory framework, is a non-profit Legal Entity under Private Law (L.E.P.L.). The L.E.P.L. “Administration Committee of the Mosque of Athens”is supervised by the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs and is not subject to the broader public sector.
According to Article 2 of the founding law, as replaced by paragraph 1 of Article 350 of Law 4957/2022 (Official Government Gazette A' 141), the mission of the L.E.P.L. is: a) the management, administration and maintenance of the Mosque of Athens, b) the support and contribution to the coverage of the religious needs and obligations of Muslims residing in Attica, c) the accurate information of the State and the public on issues related to Islamic religion and orthopraxy. Any other specific objective related to the mission of the previous subparagraph may be assigned by decision of the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs.
