24-08-16 Statistical data on nationwide university entry exams
Among the over 100,000 university applicants this year, around 40 percent chose the option of being examined in a fifth (additional) subject to increase their chances of admission. The remaining 60 percent chose not to be examined in a fifth subject, even though that would not affect their results, and consequently their faculty choices were limited to just one of the five clusters of subject areas.
10,264 university applicants, or 11.73 percent, were admitted to the faculty that was their first choice.
In terms of gender data, there was an essential parity. A slightly higher percentage of male applicants (67.96 percent) than females (65.8 percent) were successful.
Under the new examinations system, a total of 621 spots in various faculties remained vacant. Among the applicants examined with the new system from day high schools, 295 spots remained vacant.
